Hinode & SDO Sigmoid Catalog
Column Headers:
- ID: A uniquely identifying number for a specific sigmoid.
- NOAA #: The NOAA classification number given to Active Region associated with the sigmoid.
- T-Best: The time in UT when the sigmoidal shape is most prominent in Hinode/XRT observations.
- X & Y: The center location of the sigmoid in arcsec from disk center at T-Best.
- Size: Measure of the sigmoid's long axis (arcsec).
- Aspect Ratio: Ratio of the long axis to the average of the short axes.
- FWHM: The full width at half maximum of the sigmoid's core at T-best (arcsec).
- Leading Length: The length of the leading edge of the sigmoid's short axis (arcsec).
- Trailing Length: The length of the trailing edge of the sigmoid's short axis (arcsec).
- Orientation: The loop morphology. S = S-Shaped, I = Inverted S-Shaped and H = Horizontal.
- Hemisphere: Which hemisphere the sigmoid is located in. N = North and S = South.
- 171Å Filament: The length of a 171 Å filament in arcsec during T-Best. If no filament was located the column contains a dash (-).
- 304Å Filament: The length of a 304 Å filament in arcsec during T-Best. If no filament was located the column contains a dash (-).
- Ha Filament: Is there an Ha filament present during T-Best? Y = Yes, N = No, and ? = Undetermined
- Sunspots: How many sunspots are located in this region at T-Best.
- Net Flux: The total magnetic flux at the end of sigmoid's disk passage compared to the total magnetic flux at the start (Maxwells).
- Max. Flux: The maximum total magetic flux under the sigmoid (Maxwells).
- Flux Plot: A plot of the magnetic flux over time.
- Flare: How many of each GOES class flares there were during the lifetime of the sigmoid.
- CME: Not yet implemented in this version of the catalog.
- Filament Eruption: Were any filament eruptions observed. Y = Yes and N = No, and M = Maybe.
- Transient Coronal Hole: If there was a Transient Coronal Hole observed during the sigmoid's lifetime. Y = Yes and N = No, and M = Maybe.
- Flare Ribbons: Were there Flare Ribbons observed after a flare? Y = Yes and N = No.
- Post-Flare Loops: Were there Post-Flare Loops observed after a flare? Y = Yes and N = No.
- Nearby Coronal Hole: Was a stable Coronal Hole observed next to the region. Y = Yes, N = No, and M = Maybe. Not implemented.
Additional Features:
- Column sorting: Each column may be sorted on by clicking headers. Combination-sort by shift-clicking multiple column headers.
- Drop down field:
icons activate a drop-down field containing additional comments.
- Clickable cutout images in either XRT or AIA 335 passbands as well as images taken from Solar Monitor.
- Cutout movies can be downloaded through links under Movie header.
- Search bar in upper-right can filter table based on keywords in the comments (e.g. enter "kink" to isolate events where evidence for kink instability was noticed).
